ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan memeroleh perangkat pembelajaran matematika realistik yang valid, praktis, dan efektif. Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan berupa rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran (RPP), buku siswa, lembar kegiatan siswa (LKS), dan buku petunjuk guru. Pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran tersebut mengikuti prosedur Plomp yang meliputi lima tahap, yaitu: (1) investigasi awal, (2) desain, (3) realisasi/konstruksi, (4) tes, evaluasi, dan revisi, serta (5) implementasi. Namun, dalam penelitian ini tidak dilaksanakan sampai implementasi sehingga hasilnya berupa prototipe final perangkat pembelajaran yang siap diimplementasikan.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan telah mempunyai nilai validitas, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan yang tinggi. Hal ini terlihat dari pendapat validator, respons guru, respons siswa, dan hasil uji coba lapangan. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba lapangan, pendekatan pembelajaran realistik dapat meningkatkan aktivitas siswa sehingga prestasi belajar siswa lebih baik. Dari hasil tersebut disarankan agar pembelajaran matematika di Sekolah Dasar menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran matematika realistik. Guru hendaknya juga mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran melalui kerja sama dengan pakar dan peneliti di bidang pendidikan matematika.

DEVELOPINGREALISTIC MEDIA FOR TEACHING MATHEMATICS TO IMPROVE PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN RENDANG DISTRICT

ABSTRACT

This study aims at developing the Realistic Mathematic Education lesson plans, student handbooks and worksheets, and teacher’s instruction guide. Plomp’s development procedure was applied to conduct the study which covers the five stages, namely: (1) preliminary investigation, (2) design, (3) realization/construction, (4) test, evaluation, and revision as well as (5) implementation.  For the purpose of the study, only the four stages were carried out. As the result, a ready use prototype of instructional materials was produced.

The result of the study shows that the instructional materials which had been developed, perform high validity, practicality, and effectiveness. It can be seen from the result of the validation review, teacher and student’s responses, and the result of the try out. The try out result shows that students were highly involved in teaching and learning activities that affect their high achievement.

Considering the good result of the try out, it is suggested that the realistic mathematic education should be implemented in teaching Mathematics in primary school. Moreover, the primary school teachers should work in cooperation with experts to develop realistic mathematics education instructional materials.
