Singaraja-Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha)Postgraduate Program held a doctoral promotion exam on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. The exam was conducted by promovendus, Gede Wira Bayu from the Basic Education Study Program.
In the exam which took place offline, Wira Bayu presented a dissertation entitled “Development of a Guide to Implementing 21st Century Skills-Based Reading and Writing Literacy Learning for Class III Elementary School Students”. Through initial observations, it was found that teachers are currently still using the general guidelines for basic literacy activities issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture. These general guidelines for basic literacy activities still need to be enriched with readings or activities that provide more opportunities for students to do reading and writing activities. This condition is supported by the results of interviews with several teachers where teachers need a guide that is under developments in science and technology and under students’ needs. Therefore, the author considers it very necessary and urgent to develop this guide. The research results showed that the development of this guide was declared effective (good) in improving students’ reading and writing literacy skills.
The success of this Denpasar-born promovendus in defending his dissertation before the board of examiners led him to become the 68th doctorate born from the Undiksha Postgraduate Program.
