Singaraja- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) has graduated with its 18th doctorate. She is Ni Kadek Juliantari from the Postgraduate Language Education study programme. This Karangasem woman took an open exam in Rectorate Ganesha Room III Undiksha on Wednesday (5/8/2020). She also managed to make a proud achievement by completing two years of study and winning summa cum laude with a GPA of 3.98.
The exam, which took place amid the Covid-19 pandemic, also looks different from the previous exam. Undiksha Rector, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Jampel, M.Pd., acted as Chair of the Examiner Board, guiding the examination from beginning to end. Juliantari, in her presentation, still shows her best quality. She raised her dissertation “Literacy Programme in Bilingual Context: Multimodel Analysis and Impact of Implementation.” In front of the examiners, she explained that, in general, this research was conducted as an effort to increase the use of the Balinese language in both academic and non-academic domains as well as to implement the Bali Governor Regulation number 80 of 2018 concerning the Protection and Use of Balinese Language, Script, and Literature as well as the Implementation of Balinese Language Month.
After the exam, the woman who was born in 1987 admitted that in completing her final project, she must be supported with comfort and prepared from the start. “Initially, I submitted a proposal. The first thing that was asked was whether it was comfortable or not to continue this research. I was given a week to think. I found chemistry during that time, so I felt comfortable working continuously,” she said.
She admitted that her success in completing her studies could not be separated from the encouragement of the promoters and co-promoters and the postgraduate leadership. In the future, she is committed to developing science that is focused not only on the Indonesian language field but also on the Balinese language, which is part of Balinese culture. This is also conveyed directly to the examiners. “Of course, I will continue to work. I see there is still much research that can be done. The same goes for writing articles,” added the Amlapura Hindu Religion STKIP lecturer.
The Rector of Undiksha, I Nyoman Jampel, said he was proud of Juliantari’s success in completing his studies in a fast time while still paying attention to the corridors that Undiksha had determined. She is considered to have a good track record during his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Undiksha, is expected to continue to be a role model for other students. In addition, it also introduced Undiksha, especially the postgraduate doctoral programme to the broader community. “The knowledge you have can also make other people happy. Always remember the alma mater and together share various things about Undiksha,” he said.
The Undiksha Postgraduate Director conveyed the same thing, Prof. Dr. I Gusti Putu Suharta, M.Sc. Juliantari’s success in completing her studies quickly cannot be separated from the services provided by the lecturers, besides being independent and hardworking. “This is certainly something to be proud of for us,” he said.
Accelerating student graduation without reducing quality is one of the programmes designed by Undiksha Postgraduates in the future. This is expected to get support from students by preparing for the final project early. Likewise, with the publication of scientific articles. “We want masters and doctoral students to prepare their final assignments in the second semester. So are publications. Not finished the thesis or finished the starting dissertation. That is wrong,” he explained. (hms)
