Singaraja- Writing scientific articles, which is a requirement for completing studies for students and career development for university alumni, is still a challenge. This has become the concern of the Alumni Family Association (IKA) of the Undiksha Postgraduate Program. Efforts to increase understanding of writing techniques were carried out through manuscript clinics, Tuesday (18/4/2023). This activity, which took place online, collaborated with the Undiksha Postgraduate Program.
This manuscript clinic was attended by Undiksha Postgraduate Program students and lecturers. There were two invited speakers, namely Prof. Dr. I Wayan Widiana, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Prof. Dr. I Gusti Ayu Purnamawati, S.E., M.Sc. Ak. Two young professors who are very productive at Undiksha in producing scientific work published in reputable journals. Apart from that, specifically for Prof. Widiana is also trusted as Head of the Undiksha Journal and Publication Center.
Head of the IKA Undiksha Postgraduate Program, Dr. Putu Mas Dewantara, S.Pd., M.Pd said that writing scientific articles is a very important activity in the academic world. Good, high-quality scientific articles can make a major contribution to the development of science and technology. Therefore, it is considered important for postgraduate students and alumni to have the ability to write good and useful scientific articles. However, according to him, there are still postgraduate students and alumni who face various obstacles in writing scientific articles. Even students are often hampered in completing their studies because articles have not made it into journals. Moreover, doctoral students are required to be able to publish in reputable international journals. “These obstacles can come from a lack of understanding of the concept of writing scientific articles, a lack of writing skills, or a lack of knowledge about the procedures for publishing scientific articles,” he said.
The Manuskip Clinic for Writing Scientific Articles is here to provide solutions to these obstacles. “Through this, we will get information and learn about strategies for entering scientific journals, especially reputable international journals, and productive tips for developing writing ideas,” added Mas Dewantara, who is also an Undiksha lecturer.
Director of the Undiksha Postgraduate Program, Prof. Dr. I Gusti Putu Suharta, M.Sc., expressed his appreciation for the activities initiated by the IKA Undiksha Postgraduate Program. “We support efforts related to increasing insight, especially in writing scientific papers. “This is very important for students and alumni,” he said.
According to him, writing scientific papers needs to be supported by a critical and adaptive attitude towards the development of science. “This requires creativity. “We hope that in the future the quality of written work produced by students will get better,” he said. (hms)
