Singaraja – The Ganesha University of Education Postgraduate Program (Undiksha) has again accepted dozens of students from China for the 2023/2024 academic year. These international students took part in offline orientation and introduction to campus life, on Monday (17/7/2023).
There were 32 students consisting of the Master’s Study Program in Management Science and the Doctoral Study Program in Education Science. These students gather together to study using a block system to discuss research that will be carried out until next August.
Undiksha Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Cooperation Prof. Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.T.I., who was present and opened the orientation activity, said that the presence of international students is expected to improve the quality of Undiksha, increase international experience and improve the academic climate. “I hope that the presence of international students will also have an impact on other students and also provide international experience to our lecturers,” he said.
The presence of students from China is also the result of collaboration since 2022 with Indonesia Education Development (IED), which is one of the agents for international students.
In 2022, based on data published by the ministry, Undiksha will have 186 international students excluding students from China. These students take full degree programs at Undiksha and non-degree programs, such as teaching practicum, intensive programs, international summer school, and student exchange for those taking several courses at Undiksha. “I hope that the program that has been launched since 2019, namely Internationalization at Home, can bring or prepare our University for the entire international community to study and improve their academic quality at Undiksha,” he explained.
In the future, Undiksha will strive to increase the number of international students, then improve the quality, and is also expected to soon open another study program in the Postgraduate Program for international students. This needs to be supported by preparations carried out in stages and simultaneously, including the readiness of human resources, infrastructure, and learning. (hms)
