Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) Postgraduate held a doctoral promotion exam on Monday (31/1/2022). The offline exam was followed by Lalu Mukhtar from the Doctoral Programme in Education Science and Sifa from the Doctoral Programme in Language Education.
Mukthar, who is a lecturer at the State Islamic University of Mataram, raised a dissertation on the implementation of education and the formation of national character at Islamic boarding schools in the East Lombok area. This study is inseparable from his field as a teacher of Pancasila and Civic Education courses which are closely related to character education. He wanted to provide a broader picture of moral knowledge through the study he conducted. “We will try to spawn, transmit the knowledge from the research. Incidentally, we also teach Civic Education. So how will the values ??of Islamic boarding schools, namely moral values, be the same as civic values. We will also try to convey it to students,” he explained.
Further, it is said that good character really needs to be possessed by everyone, especially for prospective educators who will become examples for the community. “Prospective teachers need to be given an understanding of what the real character is. I teach at the State Islamic University of Mataram; we will try that on my students applying the results of this research there,” he said.
This research can be defended in front of the board of examiners and succeeded in bringing him to a doctorate degree.
Meanwhile, Sifa raised research on the development of a multicultural education and training module for Indonesian language teachers at secondary schools or Madrasah Tsanawiyah. The study is related to his profession as a trainer at the Denpasar Religious Education and Training Center. According to him, the results of this research can provide benefits for improving the quality of education and training. He is committed to perfecting the products that have been produced during the dissertation process. “What will be done, of course, will further expand the usefulness of our knowledge at the Education and Training Center of the Ministry of Religion, and it is possible to expand it to the jurisdiction of the Republic of Indonesia as long as the ideas written down are useful,” he said.
He said that during his doctoral education, he faced various challenges. One of them is time management because he also has to keep working. With high spirits, finally, the challenge can be passed.
Postgraduate Director, Prof. Dr. I Gusti Putu Suharta, M.Sc., admitted that he was very proud of the “birth” of a new doctor from Undiksha, especially in the Covid-19 pandemic. He also appreciated the performance of the lecturers, who were still effective in guiding students even though they were online.
The new doctors are expected to continue to develop themselves according to the demands because there are many problems in society that require solutions according to the existing context. “So we hope that our graduates can help solve problems and help the community to improve the quality of humans in general, so it does not stop here,” he hoped.
He emphasized that to create competitive graduates, Undiksha Postgraduate continues to improve the quality of learning. On that occasion, he also said to continue to innovate lectures. New students for the academic year 2022/2023 will apply synchronous and asynchronous blended learning models, a complete online learning process even in normal situations. “
Therefore, he invites people who want a master’s or doctor’s degree to join Undiksha. “We strive to provide the best service at a low cost, not inferior to others, and guaranteed quality,” he concluded. (hms)
