Singaraja- The quality of learning in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic must be maintained. Likewise, character education can be accommodated. This is important in order to realize superior human resources (HR). The Undiksha Postgraduate Language Education Master’s Degree Study Program pays serious attention to these two things through training for high school/vocational teachers in Bali. This activity takes place from October 22 to October 27, 2021, which is devoted to the field of Indonesian language studies.
This online training is entitled “Integration of Technology and Character Education in Indonesian Language Learning”. The chairman of the committee, Dr. I Putu Mas Dewantara, S.Pd., M.Pd., said that currently limited face-to-face learning has started. However, the use of technology is still too common. Online learning is still possible. “One side of character education cannot be ignored. That’s why it’s important to integrate technology and character education into learning, “he said.
This academic, born in 1987, assessed that during online learning, character education could not be maximally reached by teachers. In this situation, there is a need for innovation in learning that is able to accommodate material and character education. “Through this training, we hope that teachers can continue to carry out character education,” he added.
Meanwhile, Vice Director of Undiksha Postgraduate, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Putrayasa, M.Pd., who opened the training, said that the rapid development of technology requires teachers to adapt and still be able to carry out character education for students. “With technology, we can do something according to the times. Therefore, teachers must be ready to implement everything with technology, “he said.
According to him, accommodating character education in learning in the technological era needs to be supported by creativity and innovation from teachers. “Character education with integration of technology is appropriate. As an Indonesian language teacher, I don’t only teach Indonesian, but also provide character education that is integrated with technology, “he said.
This training presented Undiksha academics, I Gede Aditra Pradnyana, S.Kom., M.Kom., as resource people. He conveyed that integration with character education could be done through the use of virtual whiteboards, online presentations, interactive videos, online evaluations, proctoring systems, and so on. This needs to be supported by the creativity of the teachers. (hms)
