Singaraja- Busyness as an educator, coupled with the Covid-19 pandemic, did not dampen the steps of Undiksha Postgraduate Doctoral Programme student Ni Kadek Juliantari, to complete his final project. Her hard work and high commitment led her to be able to take the closed exam on Monday (22/07/2020). The exam was already underway when her studies were less than two years. This Language Education Study Programme student raised research on literacy in Indonesian and Balinese bilingual context.
After the exam, the woman who works as a lecturer at STKIP Hindu Amlapura, Karangasem, shared tips on completing her studies quickly. According to her, the most important thing is students’ commitment that must be instilled if they decide to study a doctoral program with very complex challenges. “It is not the lecturer who determines the speed of graduation, but ourselves. We are committed,” she said.
She admitted that in completing the study, she had to grapple with her busy schedule as Vice Chair I of STKIP Hindu Amlapura, a journal editor and builder of the Student Activity Unit. The exciting and memorable thing for her is that her efforts have the support of lecturers and promoters who have taken their role to the international level when they have to complete their final project in the midst of working from home as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. “So it became the basis for my foothold and relationship to publish as soon as possible in international journals indexed by Scopus. Because so far, people’s views or stigma against burdensome doctoral studies are in publications and dissertations. However, with the commitment to the promoters, the professors who drive so much student motivation, I think, apart from me, there will probably be others who will follow the graduation in two years, or even less,” she said. After the eligibility test, Juliantari will take a closed exam on July 24, 2020. On that occasion, she also admitted that she was proud to be able to study at Undiksha, which is also her alma mater at the undergraduate and master’s levels. According to her, Undiksha, accredited as a leading university, provides excellent service for its students.
The Undiksha Postgraduate Language Education Study Programme coordinator, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Rasna, M.Pd., really appreciates this student’s achievement. According to him, this cannot be separated from the support of all parties in the Undiksha environment to implement the learning process. It is hoped that the proud achievements of students will continue to emerge in the future so that they can increase the competitiveness of study programmes, postgraduates, and universities. In line with that, his party stated that they are very open to students if they want to consult to accelerate study completion.
The Director of Undiksha Postgraduate Programme, Prof. Dr. I Gusti Putu Suharta, M.Sc. “We are very proud because this student (Juliantari) has a high commitment to complete her studies during her busy schedule. The lecturers also commit to providing excellent service,” he said. He also hopes that this achievement can be used as a reflection by other students, including those from outside the Language Education Study Programme.
Undiksha Postgraduates who already have Masters in Management and Masters in Accounting, according to academics in Mathematics, are committed to providing quality learning for students and offering affordable tuition fees. “So do not hesitate to join Undiksha Postgraduate,” he concluded. (hms)
