Singaraja- Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha) Postgraduate held a national seminar on Wednesday (8/1/2020). The seminar, which took place in Rectorate Ganesha Room III, discussed the importance of big data and data literacy in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0.
This seminar was presented by Dr. techn. Saiful Akbar from the Bandung Institute of Technology and Dr. Gede Indrawan, the Head of the Undiksha Computer Science Masters Programme. The participants are not only students but also from the general public. “This seminar is one of the media to provide information about the importance of big data and data literacy in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0,” said Chairman of the Committee, I Ketut Agus Juliandana in his report.
Meanwhile, Vice-Rector I Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI., said that data literacy is critical in today’s era. This is not only to increase knowledge but also to strengthen competitiveness. “Well, from this seminar, knowledge, insight, and experience will be obtained about big data and data literacy that can be utilized and possible for self-interest, such as the world of work,” he explained.
According to him, the availability of data is substantial in various fields. However, knowledge of it still tends to be “poor.” This must be changed so that there is a balance between the availability of data and knowledge. “How can we extract data and provide valuable information in the future.
