Singaraja- Postgraduate Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) held the Doctoral Promotion Examination on Wednesday (4/11/2020). The promovenda for this open exam is Surayanah, S.Pd., M.Pd, from the Primary Education Study Programme. The examination will continue to prioritize the Covid-19 prevention protocol.
In front of the examination commission, the promovenda from Tegallinggah Village, Sukasada District, Buleleng Regency, managed to defend her research entitled “Development of Higher Order Thinking Skills-Oriented Science Test Measuring Instruments with the Elaboration of Tri Hita Karana Local Wisdom Values ??at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah.” This also led him to get a doctorate. He is the 19th doctor who was “born” from the Undiksha Postgraduate.
The achievement of the academic degree was also greeted with joy by his family, who had faithfully watched since the beginning of the examination. Surayanah admitted that she received full support from her family to study. “The support from the family is huge. Including support for completing studies quickly,” she said when confirmed after the exam. This achievement does not make her complacent. She still desires to develop science, especially in primary education, and more specifically related to the results of research summarized in a dissertation.
His commitment is in line with the message conveyed by the Promoter, Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Dantes. That, do not stop learning even though they already hold the highest academic degree. “Do not be like a banana. It only bears fruit once but gives birth to many,” he said. It was also stated that now we have entered the era of disruption, an era that is very vulnerable to change. This also needs to be anticipated. No less critical, Surayanah, who is involved in education, is also expected to be able to apply the policies introduced by the Ministry of Education and Culture, one of which is the freedom to learn.
Meanwhile, the Undiksha Postgraduate Director, Prof. Dr. I Gusti Putu Suharta, M.Sc., hopes that the graduates will become figures following the Undiksha Postgraduate motto, namely BAKTI (Berkarakter, Adaptif, Kolaboratif, Terampil dan Inspiratif) or in English means Character, Adaptive, Collaborative, Skilled, and Inspirational. To achieve this, his party has prepared several strategies. For example, preparing a curriculum relevant to needs, according to the times, regulations, and technological developments. In addition, his party also calculates the educational efficiency figures for all study programs that run every year. “We also encourage students to prepare research early and write articles. This must also be supported by full service from study programmes, lecturers, and employees,” he concluded. (hms)
