Currently the LPD or Lembaga Perkreditan Desa (Village Credit Institutions) is approximately 36 years old. At this age, many achievements have been achieved, one of which is that the total assets owned exceed the assets of Rural Banks (BPR). This means that Balinese people rely more on their financial problems (in the form of savings, deposits, and loans) to LPDs rather than BPRs. In addition, the LPD has also played a major role in supporting and maintaining Balinese culture, such as the mass cremation program, mass metatah, and the like. This activity was initiated and funded by the LPD, so that the society really felt the benefits. This reflects the presence and role of the LPD has been deeply felt by the village community. However, the LPD must continue to improve and improve itself so that public trust remains and continues to increase.
LPD as a traditional financial institution based on customs must be able to maintain the spirit of its establishment as well as be able to adapt to changing times. LPD must remain stable and remain a strategic partner of the village community. Especially people who are not bankable and in the midst of the onslaught of modernization and the invasion of other financial institutions, even during this pandemic, when the economy is sluggish but LPD must still be able to innovate and change the way they work. For this reason, steps are needed to maintain the existence of the LPD itself. In order to play a role in advancing LPD or Lembaga Perkreditan Desa (Village Credit Institutions) in the midst of the onslaught of modernization and the invasion of other financial institutions, the Master Programme in Accounting, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, in collaboration with the LPLPD or Lembaga Pemberdayaan Lembaga Perkreditan Desa (Village Credit Institutions Empowerment Institute) of Bali Province held a webinar on the Odd Semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year, to be precise on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 09.00 WITA – finished trough online with the theme “Strategies and Tips for Creating an LPD that is sustainable”.
