The potential for corruption and fraud has increased in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era. RSM survey (2020) on companies from 18 industries in Indonesia from government, banking, as well as commercial and professional services. This survey aims to find out and understand the trend of fraudulent acts during the economic crisis or the COVID-19 pandemic that is hitting Indonesia. Based on the results of the survey, it was found that 80% of respondents stated that fraud during the COVID-19 pandemic had increased drastically, furthermore 35% of respondents said that misappropriation of assets had occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic in their companies.
Based on this, in order to participate in mitigating various cases of fraud and corruption in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era, the Master Programme in Accounting at the Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha in collaboration with the Indonesian Institute of Accountants for the Bali Region held a National Webinar in the Even Semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year to be exact on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 10.00 WITA – finished through online, entitled “Fraud and Corruption in the Era of the Covid 19 Pandemic”.
This national webinar activity entitled “Fraud and Corruption in the Era of the Covid 19 Pandemic”, was held online through the zoom application and YouTube live streaming by inviting 3 resource people who were extraordinary in providing material and sharing experiences.
This activity began with a welcome speech by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Institute of Accountants for the Bali Region, followed by an opening speech by the Postgraduate Director of Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha. Then, continued with the presentation of the material by the first, second, and third speakers. After the presentation of the material, it was followed by a discussion and question and answer session between the participants and the resource people and ended with the presentation of conclusions by the moderator. Participants in this activity were free of charge and got facilities in the form of e-certificates, knowledge, and materials.
The parties involved in the national webinar entitled “Fraud and Corruption in the Era of the Covid-19 Pandemic” were:
- Master Programme in Accounting, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha in collaboration with the Bali Region Indonesian Accountants Association as the organizer of the activity.
- Dr. Md. Gd. Wirakusuma, SE. M.Si., AK., CA. as the Chairperson of the Bali Region Indonesian Accountants Association, as the party who gave the welcome speech.
- Prof. Dr. I Gusti Putu Suharta, M.Si. as Director of Postgraduate Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, as the party who gave the welcome and opening speech.
- Dr. I Pt. Gd. Diatmika, SE., M.Si., Ak., CPA as the founder of the Accounting Services Office I Putu Gede Diatmika, Master Programme in Accounting, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha lecturer, and Vice Dean II of FE Undiksha, as moderators.
- Three resource people, such as:
a. Dr. Binsar H Simanjuntak, Ak. MBA, CPMA, CA. as Special Staff to the Minister of PUPR, Audit Committee of the Ministry of Finance, Audit Committee of the Ministry of PUPR, Chair of DKSAK IAI, Lecturer Maksi Trisakti, as resource people 1.
b. Dr. Gede Adi Yuniarta, SE., M.Si., CPA as the management of IAI Bali Region, Lecturer of Master of Science in Accounting Undiksha, Senior Auditor of KAP Ketut Budiartha and Anggiriawan, Dean of FE Undiksha, Entrepreneur, as resource person 2.
c. I Gede Hendra Eka Saputra, SE. as the student of Mater Programme in Accounting, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, First Budget Analyst of the Land Office of Jembrana Regency, as resource person 3. - Participants in this webinar consist of lecturers, students, and the general public with a total of 1,118 participants.
Participants in this national webinar received additional knowledge and insight regarding strategies to mitigate various cases of fraud and corruption in the Covid 19 Pandemic Era, so that fraud and corruption in the Covid 19 Pandemic Era can be minimized.
